 Dynamic Learning Maps  Does your state use Dynamic Learning Maps? My state (Iowa) uses DLM for grades 3-12 and Early Literacy Alternate Assessment for grades K-6. I created comprehension quizzes for the DLM familiar texts. Below is a list of all the quizzes I have created! In my classroom, students are working on counting to 5. We do a lot of modeling. This year, I decided to make our math routine involve a picture book. Here are a few examples, Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed Mouse Count 10 Fat Turkeys Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice Five Little Monkeys Swinging in a Tree Five Little Dinosaurs  We follow a routine for this part of our day. We count our items with an adult model, then they put the items in a jar with a model. After that, the adult reads the story aloud. Do you have a subscription to Reading A-Z in your classroom? Do you feel like the comprehension checks aren't the best fit for all your students? Well, guess what? I have made comprehension checks with visuals to go along with many of the Reading A-Z stories.  These comprehensions checks have been a game changer for my classroom. Some of my students are able to answer the questions independently and others are able to answer using the choices after I read them the questions.  To differentiate,  I have made some comprehension checks with two answer choices as seen above.  If you would like a copy of these comprehension checks, please click here . Are you working on letter sounds or rhyming in your classroom? Do you have a set of the Lakeshore Teaching Tubs? If you don't,  please keep reading and I will attach the object list so you can make your own.   In my classroom, my students have independent work time using a work system.  Last year, I put two tubs into a Sterilite container for my students to sort, but found that the students couldn't sort independently due to not knowing the object. I decided that I needed something to help the students sort the sounds so the Lakeshore Sound Mats came to be.  The students are sorting the sounds onto the mat and then transferring the objects into the clear tubs.  In my classroom, I have multiple levels of students so when making the mats I knew I needed to differentiate so I made mats with just two pictures as well.  The exciting part about me differentiating is that it serves multiple purposes.
