In my classroom, students are working on counting to 5. We do a lot of modeling. This year, I decided to make our math routine involve a picture book. Here are a few examples, Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed Mouse Count 10 Fat Turkeys Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice Five Little Monkeys Swinging in a Tree Five Little Dinosaurs We follow a routine for this part of our day. We count our items with an adult model, then they put the items in a jar with a model. After that, the adult reads the story aloud.
